Sambhav is Mr Fresher at SCD Govt College

Ludhiana: A freshers' party was organised for MCom (business innovations) students at SCD Govt College.



Ludhiana: A freshers' party was organised for MCom (business innovations) students at SCD Govt College. Sambhav was selected as Mr Fresher and Akshit as Miss Fresher. Earlier, the party started with opening remarks of programme coordinator Ashwani Bhalla, who said that MCom (business innovations) was a unique programme which was a blend of industry and academia. Students presented their creative abilities with their fashion show, skit, dances and also exhibited their skills on the ramp through their creative thoughts. Principal Dharam Singh said the college had great expectations from this course because it fulfilled the dream of Capt Amarinder Singh's dream of job in every household.

Australian experts at LCET seminar

A team of Murdoch University, headed by Suzzane Smith, Director International at the university, visited Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology (LCET), Katani Kalaian, and delivered her views at a seminar on values of education. She informed them about higher studies and exploring placement avenues abroad. She explained various educational fields available in Australia for higher studies and the expenses involved therein. About the placement avenues in Australia, Suzzane Smith said a good number of white collar jobs were available there for engineers and MBA students unlike earlier, when students had to compromise with blue collar jobs. 

Freshers’ party at Gulzar Group of Institutes

Gulzar Group of Institutes Khanna, Ludhiana, organised a freshers' party themed Anubhav to welcome the new batch. About 3,500 students from various streams of engineering and management participated. Events such as mime, skit, gidha, western dance, gatka, rock band, solo and duet songs and others items were held. It provided an opportunity to all students to participate in their area of interest. The highlight of the day was a fashion show. Vansh and Yashika were chosen as Mr and Miss Fresher whereas Mr GGI and Miss GGI were Harpreet Singh and Jyoti, respectively. 

Awareness camp on digital transactions

The Department of Business Management and Commerce of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, organised an awareness camp in collaboration with Indian Bank, Model Town. The camp was presided over by Balbir Singh, manager, Indian Bank, zonal officer, Ludhiana, and assistant manager Charanjit Nanda. The camp focused on how to register for netbanking online, UPI registration process, working of National Payment Corporation of India, USSD banking, Aadhar enabled payment system (AEPS), point of sale (POS) terminals and its types ie physical POS, MPOS and VPOS. New digital products were described such as green pin for ATM, digi-locker, e-wallets, netbanking, prepaid cards, travel cards etc. Hacking devices and safe banking tips were also discussed.

Declamation contest at SD College

A declamation contest was organised by Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Ludhiana, at Kamla Lohtia SD College. The purpose of the contest was to familiarise students with the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and his contributions to society. A total of 15 students participate. Principal Shiv Mohan Sharma described the teachings of Swami Vivekananda as the lighting catalyst for the youth and exhorted them to follow the same. In the declamation contest, Shivam of BCom-III was declared first while Amanpreet of MA-I secured the second position. Saksham of BCom-II and Manish of BCom-III stood third. — TNS
