Ludhiana: SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, celebrated World Earth Day.



Ludhiana: SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, celebrated World Earth Day. Teachers and students created awareness. A poster-making competition was also organised. The topics were “Save Earth and Save Environment”, “Say no to Plastic”, “Save Water”, “Plant More trees”. Jasveer Singh Chauhan Principal congratulated the winners of poster-making competition and motivated students to join hands to understand the responsibilities towards the Earth. He laid stress on the dire need of environmental balance by saying: “No to plastic and planting more and more trees”.

Om Parkash Bansal Modern School

Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh, celebrated Earth Day with lots of zeal and enthusiasm at the school to create awareness among students. Students were made aware about environmental education to keep surroundings green and clean and engage the school community in making a difference through various activities. The celebration aimed at emphasising the ways in which a man is dependent on Earth and students were encouraged to contribute in the mission of saving our planet to make it a better place for living.

Literary Conclave

Literary Conclave, an inter-house literary event, was held at Ryan International School, Jamalpur. Students of Classes IX to XII participated and got an opportunity to hone their speaking skills and enhance their knowledge. The conclave comprised various competitions which included debate, declamation, poetry recitation and literary quiz. Siddharth Goyal and Alok Shukla of Class XII bagged the first prize in debate competition, Prachi Khanna of Class X won the first position in declamation contest and Kshitij got the first prize in poetry recitation. All winners brimmed with joy as they were felicitated.

World Book Day

World Book Day was celebrated at BCM Kindergarten, Basant Vihar, with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students were told the value of reading books and introduced with various books such as fairytales, story books and general knowledge books. Students brought notebooks and pencils to donate to NGOs, where several needy and poor students were studying. The main motive to celebrate this day was to encourage children to explore the pleasure of reading books. Principal Vandna Shahi said: “Book reading must be imbibed in children right from their childhood, so that this habit helps them in future.”

Green Land Convent School

Students and teachers of Green Land Convent School, Sectoor-32, celebrated ‘World Book Day’ with great enthusiasm. The day encouraged children to explore the pleasure of books and reading. A bookmark-making competition was organised for students of Class VI to VIII. In primary wing, a book reading competition was organised in the school library. Students were guided about famous books and their authors such as Shakespeare, John Keats and Ruskin Bond among others. A special morning assembly was conducted to tell the importance of reading books. Principal Gunmeet Kaur encouraged students for extra reading. Director Vinita Sanan guided them how to take care of books and share their old books with the poor and the needy. Students were busy reading and maintaining their books the entire day.

‘English Day’

Police DAV Public School , Police Lines, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, celebrated ‘English Day’ on Monday to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Poet of the Poets William Shakespeare, who had made a significant contribution in the development of English language. The day began with a special assembly for the Classes XI-XII. Students staged a skit ‘Foibles of English Language’. Students of Class VIII exhibited their talent by enacting a renowned poem ‘Seven Ages’ written by the eminent poet. Students of Classes III to X were involved in various activities to memorialise the subject that encompasses almost every sphere of life. Besides, students shared the correct pronunciation of different mispronounced words and made an effort to simplify the complexities of English language.
