In a view of dangers of playing Blue Whale challenge online game, that provokes users to cause self-harm, some of the schools in the city have sent advisories to parents to monitor their children to prevent them from falling prey to play this game.
Children are also being told not to play this game and have been warned of its consequences.
In a letter sent out to parents by Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, parents have been advised to monitor interact activities of children. It is mentioned that the online game is attracting children, especially teenagers. They are playing the game that turns out to be disastrous for the children and their families as the game provokes players to cause self-harm to advance to the next stage. And if they don’t do so, online hackers threaten to harm their family by tracking their identity and children tend to become obsessed and hypnotised, and feeling trap, they take steps to harm themselves.
Parents have been urged to supervise children to prevent them from falling prey to the game or opening any link related to this online game.
Speaking about it, Navita Puri, Principal Kundan Vidya Mandir said parents of students at her school have also been advised to watch out and supervise their children to prevent them from playing this game. “We have also told them about the link, so that they can advise and watch out to prevent children from opening this link and playing this game, while giving information about the problems this game can cause,” she added.
Parents also say that such games must be blocked. “This game seems to be created by anti-social elements and perverted misanthropists. The government must do something to block out such online games and links,” said Preeti, a parent.
