Ludhiana, December 13

Two days after a six-year-old girl was molested by a man, another case of raping a minor girl was reported here. The suspect has been identified as Mahi, a resident of Gagandeep Colony.

The complainant, Rameshwar, a resident of Basant Vihar, said the incident happened yesterday when he arrived home. “He reached home and repeatedly knocked the door. However, nobody responded from inside. Since I left my minor daughter alone at home, I was worried. I scaled the boundary wall of the house and entered the room. I was shocked to see the suspect raping my daughter. As I intervened, he fled the spot,” he added.

Investigating officer Pritpal Singh of the Jodhewal police station said raids were being conducted to nab the suspect. ”We conducted raids at his house but he was not found there. He will soon be arrested,” the officer said.

Two days before the incident, the Sahnewal police had booked a man for attempting to outrage the modesty of a six-year-old child. The suspect was identified as Vijay, a resident of Uttar Pardesh. The complainant, Naveen Rai of Amardas Colony, had told police that his daughter was alone at home on December 10 when the suspect forcibly took her to his room where he tried to molest her. The suspect is at large.
