Seeing car towed away, man threatens traffic cop with gun

LUDHIANA: The police have booked a man for allegedly abusing and obstructing police personnel from towing away his ‘wrongly’ parked car on the road at Ghumar Mandi.

The police have booked a man for allegedly abusing and obstructing police personnel from towing away his ‘wrongly’ parked car on the road at Ghumar Mandi.

Constable Sukhdev Singh complained that a car was wrongly parked on the road at Ghumar Mandi. When they were towing away the car, its owner arrived there and started abusing them. The car owner also threatened the tow van driver with a pistol, he said.

The accused has been identified as Bhupinder Singh Mangat of Nurpur Bet. A case under Section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC and 25/27-54-59 of the Arms Act has been registered against him at the Division Number 8 police station.

Bhupinder is a leader of the SAD. The complainant also alleged that the accused had also threatened to kill him by flashing the pistol.

Bhupinder was presented before the court that sent him to judicial remand.

Constable injured as car rams into barricade

A policeman was injured when a car rammed into a barricade near Tikoni Park, Jamalpur. The injured constable, Harpal Singh, said the car driver fled the spot after the incident on Wednesday night. A case has been registered against Lakhanpal and Johny of Saavan Vihar Colony.
