With the Municipal Corporation failing to resolve the problem of choked sewers at Dhandari Khurd and Prem Nagar so far, the recent rain has increased woes of the residents of these areas. The streets of in various parts of Dhandari Khurd and Prem Nagar have flooded with overflowing sewage, causing a lot of troubles for the residents as the civic body failed to resolve their issues.

The people including children and elderly are forced to walk through accumulated sewage water. They are also falling victim to various infections due to negligence of the municipal corporation, the residents told.

After rain, the level of accumulated water in some streets has increased due to choked sewers. The foul smell emanating from accumulated water has irked the residents.

Residents of Dhandari Khurd claimed the MC staff had cleaned the sewers multiple times in last four weeks but there is no relief from overflowing sewage. Sucha Singh, a resident of Dhandari Khurd said, “Even some political leaders, along with the officials inspected the area last week. After cleaning of the sewers, there was no problem for some time. However, the sewers started overflowing again after two days.”

“Now, water has accumulated outside many houses located in different streets of Dhandari Khurd. The government should direct the authorities concerned to resolve the problem at the earliest,” he said.

Pintu Yadav of Prem Nagar said: “The situation is very poor in our area as the sewage water has also been accumulating in the plots. We are forced to stay under unlivable conditions at this neglected area. The situation became worst after rain last night. If the municipal corporation did not take any necessary steps, we will suffer more during the rainy season.”

“The sewage water is getting accumulated in the plots adjoining houses. Thus, the walls of few houses have also got damaged,” he said.
