Ludhiana, January 18

“Take care of yourself first, everything else comes later. Health is important.” This is the message, which policewomen, including Constables, ACPs, DSPs and other ranks, were given today. It was an interesting session for women police officials as experts in their respective fields told them to pamper themselves, set their goals and priorities, meditate to relax mind, besides be careful about their health. The session was organised with efforts of the Commissioner Police, RN Dhoke, in collaboration with “FICCI flo Ludhiana”.

One of the experts, Dr Vanie Thapar, said, “Policewomen face health challenges mainly because of irregular working hours, exposure to environmental pollution and working in unfriendly conditions, which lack proper facilities and sanitation.”

“Their nature of profession is such that they are constantly in danger of physical injury/harm, which can cause a lot of stress, imbalance in personal and professional life. These can be dealt with only when they are in their pink health,” she added.

Dr Vanie stressed on eating eggs, vegetables, fruits and drinking coconut water instead of choking with junk food. Another motivational speaker, Payal, asked cops to be confident, empathetic and better communicators to be successful in life. She made policewomen play different games to stress that these qualities actually played an important role to shape personality. With her wit and humour, she captivated the audience.

While addressing the participants, the FICCI president, Monica, said, “Unless and until a woman takes care of herself, she will not be able to look after her family and professional life.”

“Instead of wasting time in gossiping on social media set your priorities to achieve greater heights,” she added.

Cops were appreciated for giving a feeling of “security” in the minds of the general public. Experts also answered many queries related to health, family-related issues among other things raised by policewomen present on the occasion.

Members of the FICCI gave them important tips for staying healthy. They also asked women cops to practice meditation to de-stress themselves. The Commissioner Police said such sessions were important to motivate officials. “We will try to come up with more such sessions as these boost the morale of cops, who always remain on toes while performing tough duties,” he said.
