The 68th edition of the Junior Punjab Basketball Championship will be held from May 3 to 6 at Guru Nanak Stadium.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, today said 35 teams had confirmed their participation in the boys’ as well as girls’ categories of the four-day event and more teams were expected to register themselves in the next couple of days. Players born on or after January 1, 1999, can participate in the championship. Participants had been asked to bring their original birth certificates without which they would not be allowed to play, he said.

On the basis of their performance during this championship, state basketball teams, both boys and girls, will be selected for the forthcoming Junior National Basketball Championship scheduled to be held from June 4 to 11 at Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The selected players would attend a preparatory camp prior to their participation in the national championship, Dhaliwal added.
