Ludhiana, April 30

Thanks to fine batting performance by Dr Ajay Aggarwal (42) and Dr Kul Gaurav Gupta (37) IMA Ludhiana XI beat IMA Patiala XI by 24 runs in a friendly cricket match played at the Punjab Agricultural University ground here today.

In 20 overs each side match, IMA Ludhiana batted first and scored 137 runs in the allotted overs. Their inning revolved around Dr Ajay and Dr Kul Gaurav whose contributions with the bat made the difference.

Chasing the target, IMA Patiala XI led by Dr Rakesh Arora could muster 113 runs with a couple of overs to spare. For the winners, Dr Ajay Aggarwal, Dr Pankaj, Dr Rajinder, Dr Gurjinder Singh and Dr Sanchit bowled well to contain visitors and helped their side to wrap up the issue.

For his fine batting display, Dr Ajay Aggarwal was named the man of the match, while Dr Kul Gaurav was declared the best all-rounder.

Dr Bimal Kanish, honorary secretary, IMA Ludhiana said they would make it a regular feature and invite other district teams to provide medicos an appropriate platform for physical activities.
