A meeting was today organised to discuss about the issue of stubble burning at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor, PAU, Baldev Singh Dhillon. Officials from Co-operative societies were also present.
Arvinder Singh Bains, Registrar Co-operative Societies Department, requested the farmers not to burn stubble and also appreciated the steps taken by the PAU in curbing the same.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the stubble burning, its effects on health, environment and its effects on field manure and insects. The VC also lauded the efforts of the agricultural co-operative societies in this regard.
