LUDHIANA: The police have arrested a 22-year-old B Tech student for allegedly posting morphed images of a 19-year-old girl on social networking sites.

The police have arrested a 22-year-old B Tech student for allegedly posting morphed images of a 19-year-old girl on social networking sites.

Following the complaint filed by victim’s father, the police have arrested the accused, who has been identified as Varun Singla of Barnala. The girl’s father said the accused used to blackmail his daughter and threaten her to upload more obscene photos on social networking sites. He said the accused uploaded his daughter’s morphed pictures and videos on Facebook and Instagram. The accused created fake accounts on Instagram and facebook and also used to send messages to his daughter via Facebook messenger and Whatsapp, he said.

When the girl brought these activities in the knowledge of her father, he lodged an FIR against the accused. After arresting the accused, the police produced him before the court on Monday. He has been sent on a two-day police remand.— TNS
