Thieves steal goods worth Rs2 lakh from bank

JAGRAON: Thieves broke into the Chakar branch of Punjab and Sind Bank past night and decamped with goods worth more than Rs 2 lakh.

Thieves broke into the Chakar branch of Punjab and Sind Bank past night and decamped with goods worth more than Rs 2 lakh. The incident came to light early morning when a woman safai karamchari of the bank arrived there to clean the premises and found both locks of a door broken.

The safai karamchari, Daljit Kaur immediately informed the bank staff about the incident, following which staff members, including Branch Manager Kapil Verma, reached the bank. They informed the police about the incident. 

According to Verma, the thieves decamped with five computers, one DVR system, four CCTV cameras, 10 cartridges of a rifle and other goods. He said the estimated value of the stolen goods stand around Rs 2 lakh. The thieves also tried to break the safe of the bank but failed. 

Soon, a police team, led by ASI Manohar Lal from the Hathur police station, reached the spot and launched investigation. He said the police had obtained footage of a CCTV camera installed at a gurdwara situated at the back of the bank. According to sources, the footage shows three persons entering the bank after breaking the locks. 

The ASI said the police had registered a case against unidentified persons in this regard on the basis of a complaint filed by Verma and further investigation was on.
