Khanna April 25
The local police claimed to have arrested persons with a homemade pistol and two live cartridges on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Somanath, a resident of Rurki village, and Ayush, a resident of Rurka village in Jalandhar district.
Khanna SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said a police party of the Khanna police led by DSP JS Cheema and DSP (I) Ranjit Singh was patrolling near Mulepur village. The police saw two persons sitting under trees along the road and on suspicion, the police frisked them and recovered a .315 bore pistol from Somnath and two live cartridges from Ayush, said the SSP.
A case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused.
The SSP said Somnath had criminal record and many cases were already pending against him in various districts.
SSP Mahal said the accused would be presented in a court on Thursday.
