Two booked for blackmailing

Ludhiana: A resident of Ram Nagar, Sukhdev Singh, has lodged a complaint with the police against two persons for allegedly blackmailing his brother.



Ludhiana: A resident of Ram Nagar, Sukhdev Singh, has lodged a complaint with the police against two persons for allegedly blackmailing his brother. The accused Lucky and Mukesh Thakur are residents of the city. Sukhdev, who works as inspector in the Food and Supplies Department in Batala, said both the accused misguided his brother Amritpal Singh and took his mobile phone. The accused started making extortion calls from Amritpal’s number and demanded Rs 1 lakh from someone. The complainant further alleged that both the accused started defaming the entire family on the social media. Not just that the accused along with others allegedly attacked Sukhdev’s sister Navneet Kaur, who was going from Clock Tower to Civil Lines, for work. A case has been registered under Sections 384, 420, 511, 506, 500, 120 B and 34, against both the accused. TNS

1 booked for selling fake number plates

Ludhiana: Gurnam Singh, a resident of Rishi Nagar, has lodged a complaint against Rajinder Kumar, a resident of Ram Sharnam Haibowal, at the Haibowal police station for making fake number plates and then selling these to innocent persons. A case has been registered under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 171, IPC. The matter is being investigated by SI Gurmeet Singh. TNS
