Two patients belonging to Sangrur and Hoshiarpur died of swine flu at SPS Hospital here. The patient belonging to Sangrur was a 34-year-old woman while the one from Hoshiarpur was a 55-year-old man.
Dr Ramesh, District Epidemiologist, said both patients were from other districts.
He said of 20 patients with suspected swine flu in the district, two tested positive. One patient died in January.
He said generally, it was seen that swine flu cases subside after a rise in the temperature. “Last year, swine flu patients were coming even in summers, so nothing can be said about the strain of virus this year. The department is all prepared to tackle any situation,” he said.

- Use disposable tissues instead of a handkerchief if you have a cold and throw the tissue in dustbin after use.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth too often as this can lead to you contracting the disease.
- Wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol based hand rub (hand sanitiser).
- Viruses also spread by droplet infection which might have deposited on common objects like phones, laptops, common desk and chairs, so avoid touching too many objects and wash your hands if you do.
