The police claim to have arrested members of the Dilpreet Singh (Baba) gang, who were involved in cases of loot, robbery, snatching, murder, etc. Honey Kumar, alias Katti, a resident of Hoshiarpur district, and Mandeep Kumar, alias Nagina, a resident of Rahon Road, Meharban, have been arrested. Several cases have been registered at different police stations against the two accused.

The Commissioner of Police, RN Dhoke, while addressing the media here today, said a car, a 315-bore pistol and another 32-bore pistol had been recovered from the accused. Several cases have been registered in Hoshiarpur against Honey, who had murdered Manpreet Singh, son of a policeman posted in Hoshiarpur, at Bajwara village. He was a proclaimed offender and was sheltered here by Mandeep.

Another gang member, Sikandar Singh Sahansi, was arrested with a pistol from Tarntaran on August 13 by the CIA staff. Both Sikandar and Honey are close aides of the main gangster, Dilpreet Singh, alias Baba.

Four cases have been registered against Mandeep at the Jodhewal and Mehrban police stations. Against Sikandar, who was arrested from Tarntaran, 10 cases of serious crimes (murder, loot, snatching, etc) have been registered in Tarntaran, Amritsar and Ludhiana.

These gang members purchased arms from Gwalior and Uttar Pradesh at cheap rates and used them in crimes such as loot, robbery, smuggling of liquor, etc.

Robbers held distributing Rs 9-lakh booty

Ludhiana: The police claim to have busted a gang of robbers, who were involved in incidents of robbery and loot here. They were arrested while they were distributing Rs 9-lakh booty among themselves. They had looted the cash from a money changer. The gang members, namely Avtar Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri; Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Basant Nagar; Manish Kumar, a resident of Barota Road; Gursewak Singh, a resident of Daba Road; Anirudh, alias Prince, a resident of Barota Road; and Vivek Kumar, a resident of Shimlapuri, have been arrested. On August 6, the gang robbed a financier, Amit Malhotra, of about Rs 20 lakh while the latter was going on his scooter. A case was registered at the Model Town police station. The gang tried to target another financier, Naresh Kumar, but he escaped in his car. As per their modes operandi, Gursewak, Anirudh and Vivek Kumar would do a recce of areas while the other three would loot the victims.
