Two minors raped

Two minor girls were raped in the past 24 hours in the city. An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in the Dhillon Nagar area on December 2 following which the Daba police registered an FIR against the accused, Nishan Singh.

According to the victim’s mother, the family had come to the area about six months ago and had taken a house on rent. In the upper portion of the house, a couple lived with their son Nishan Singh.

The family was sleeping in the house on the intervening night of December 1-2. Around 1 am, when mother suddenly woke up, she did not find her daughter on the bed. The mother went to her mother’s room where she found her daughter weeping.

The victim told her mother that the accused took her to the washroom on the first floor, threatening her of dire consequences. The police are investigating the matter while Nishan Singh is absconding.

In yet another incident in the Hargobindnagar area, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two persons, namely Mehfooz and Vicky Sharma, on December 1.

The accused not just raped the minor, but threatened her of dire consequences if she told anything about the incident to anyone. The victim has studied till Class VI.

The accused abducted the minor, thrashed her and administered her drink laced with sedatives near Clock Tower. The girl lost her consciousness after taking the drink, following which the accused committed the crime.

When she gained consciousness, she found herself without clothes, but managed to escape. She reached home and told everything to the family following which the matter was reported to the police. The victim has identified the accused and one person has been taken into custody for interrogation.

The police have registered two cases at Police Division No 6 and Daba under Section 376, 366, 328 and 506 of the IPC and Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
