Khanna: The police claimed to have arrested two persons and recovered 2-kg opium from them.



Khanna: The police claimed to have arrested two persons and recovered 2-kg opium from them. The acused have been identified as Ram Chander and Sameer, of UP. SSP Khanna NS Mahal said the police had laid a naka at Doraha and during checking, they witnessed two persons alighting from a bus. On seeing the police, they tried to run but were overpowered. The police recovered 1 kg opium from each of them. A case was registered under the NDPS Act and they were presented in court, from where they were sent in police remand. The SSP said the accused had a criminal record and had brought this consignment from UP and were about to sell it in the area. OC

200-gm heroin seized

Samrala: The police claimed to have arrested one person identified as Jasmet Singh of Raipur village in Hoshiarpur district and recovered 200-gm heroin from him. SSP Khanna NS Mahal said the police signalled an Alto coming from Samrala side to stop. On seeing the police, the driver reversed the car, but was overpowered. The police recovered 200-gm heroin from him. A case under the NDPS Act was registered and he was presented in court. OC
