Unable to pay his debt, a 28-year-old farmer of Maksudra village here allegedly committed suicide at his house.

The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Singh, alias Sukha, a resident of Maksudra village, falling under Payal police station under Khanna police district.

However, the police claimed that the deceased committed suicide due to long illness, but the family members and villagers said he committed suicide as he was under heavy debt. The deceased was the only son of his old parents.

As per the information, the deceased allegedly committed suicide when he failed to repay the money taken from the bank for a small piece of land by his father. When he found that he was unable to repay the amount, he took the extreme step.
