Ludhiana: A volleyball summer camp for boys is being organised by the Punjab Sports Department at the ground outside the indoor multipurpose hall opposite Guru Nanak Stadium. Barjinder Singh, volleyball coach, has been imparting coaching to these campers. The campers are taught the under-hand and upper-hand service skills besides fitness tips are given, so that players can utilise their capabilities to the optimum level.
Cricket: 17 players selected
The Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), an affiliated unit of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), conducted trials to select the Ludhiana zone women’s cricket team (senior) at GRD Academy ground here on Tuesday. As many as 51 aspirants attended these trials and were watched by selectors before they selected 17 players to take part in the cricket championship to commence on June 22 at Hoshiarpur and Barnala. The Ludhiana zone will play its first match against Amritsar zone at Hoshiarpur on June 23. The list of selected cricketers, released by Vinod Chitkara, honorary general secretary, LDCA, include Ruchi (captain), Neha Khan, Rosy, Manpreet, Palwinder, Babaljit Kaur and Poonam, all from Ludhiana; Harmuskan, Simran and Mandeep Kaur from Muktsar; Veerap Kaur, Mamta and Jashanpreet Kaur from Faridkot; Priyanka, Roshna and Sneha from Fazilka and Raveena Thakur from Bathinda.
