Ludhiana, April 26

With the Municipal Corporation having failed to release the salaries of its employees, the members of Municipal Karamchari Sanyukt Committee carried out a protest rally here on Thursday.

The rally started from their office and passed through Chaura Bazar, Clock Tower areas and ended at Mata Rani Chowk.

The protesting employees raised slogans against the state government, Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Mayor during the rally. They demanded from the government to release their salaries at the earliest and threatened to intensify their protest.

Vijay Kumar of the committee said the authorities concerned have failed to redress their issue, as their salaries were not being released. “We have been struggling with the same situation for the last 8-9 months, as salaries are delayed every month. We are forced to stage protests to get our salaries every time,” he said.

The protesting employees claimed that they were suffering. They asked the authorities to release their salaries in time else they said they would be forced to intensify their agitation.

Many development projects are hanging fire due to the unavailability of required funds, as no concrete measures are being taken to improve MC’s financial condition.
