Manpreet Kaur Babbal, wife of the Youth Akali Leader, Gurpreet Singh Babbal, has alleged that cases registered against her husband with the police of Division Number 5 and Sarabha Nagar police station were false and politically motivated.
She along with other supporters and relatives, handed-over an application to the Commissioner of Police, RN Dhoke, at his house today.
She requested him not to arrest Babbal and get the facts cleared, as all the allegations against him were baseless, said his wife.
Manpreet Kaur said her husband was a Youth Akali Dal leader. She alleged that her husband was being falsely implicated in these cases, which were politically motivated. The family had some property dispute and to settle scores, the cases were lodged against him.
She also said that her husband did not know any Sukha Barewalia (the most wanted gangster was nabbed by the police recently and was facing trial in 18 cases including those of murder, robbery, forgery etc).
She said as he was leader of Youth Akali wing and many persons used to meet him and Sukha could be one of them. She further said meeting such people do not prove that Babbal was involved with criminals.
She also said an honest officer must be deputed to probe into the matter to solve the case.
It was also alleged that Babbal was closely associated with gangster Sukha Barewalia. According to the police, Babbal used to provide Sukha financial assistance with Sukha’s help. It was also reported that Babbal was able to get a house in Ludhiana by preparing fake documents.
