LUDHIANA: The Department of Extension Education organised a farmers’ training programme on ‘Improved cultivation practices for rice crop’, under the guidance of Dr J S Bhalla.

The Department of Extension Education organised a farmers’ training programme on ‘Improved cultivation practices for rice crop’, under the guidance of Dr J S Bhalla.

The training was conducted under the project sponsored by the NABARD, in which 25 farmers participated from different villages of Ludhiana district. Dr Dharminder Singh, assistant extension specialist, asked the farmers to shun the practice of stubble burning.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prabhjot Kaur, professor of extension education, sensitised the farmers about depleting underground water. Senior extension specialist Dr Amarjit Singh informed about pest and fungal attacks on paddy and steps to control them.
