Ludhiana: The Department of Computer Science at Khalsa College for Women, organised a 12-day workshop on “Interactive website development using WordPress”, which concluded on Wednesday.



Ludhiana: The Department of Computer Science at Khalsa College for Women, organised a 12-day workshop on “Interactive website development using WordPress”, which concluded on Wednesday. The workshop was held under the “Project Sashakt” of “Triadic Development Programme” of the college. The objective was to boost the digital skills of the students in the domain of web designing and development. The workshop provided an opportunity to the students to help understand the intricacies of designing a stand out website, learn the processes involved in creating effective and responsive websites and identify the issues involved in its development and maintenance. Students developed intriguing websites as a part of the projects assigned to them during the course of the training.

Seminar on MS office and tally 

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a 15- day workshop on “Mastering MS-Office and Tally”. 75 students participated in the training which laid emphasis on developing skills of the students to hone skills and make them competitive in the domain of MS Word, MS-Excel, MS-Power point and Tally. The participants were able to create and design documents for business correspondence such as business cards, letter heads, cover page, brochures, flyers, certificates, curriculum vitae etc. and use statistical formulas. The workshop concluded with valedictory session where students were felicitated with the certificate of participation.

Students excel

Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, brought laurels by obtaining top positions in MA (English) 1st semester exams held in December 2017. Gurarpan Kaur stood first in the college by obtaining 66.75 per cent. Kirti Jolly secured second position by scoring 66.50 per cent and Sukhman stood third by obtaining 66 per cent. Principal Manjit Kaur Ghuman congratulated the students for their outstanding efforts.

NCC camp commences 

To inculcate basic qualities of discipline, punctuality, unity, leadership and self-confidence a 10-day combined annual training camp is being organised by 3PB girls BN NCC Ludhiana at the Khalsa College for Women under the command of camp Commandant Col Jasmeet Singh Bali. Cadets on second day of the camp were full of enthusiasm. As a part of traffic safety drive lectures were delivered by traffic Inspector Satinder Singh along with, other team members .He made the cadets aware about the importance of following traffic signals and guidelines. He told them a golden rule to avoid accidents i.e.  always overtake from the right side and always walk on footpath. According to a survey 1,60,000 people died due to road accidents. He stressed on the fact that the role of the NCC cadets is very important in spreading awareness amongst the people and in reducing these figures.  He asked cadets to wear helmet and follow traffic signals. Third Officer Anuradha Diwan welcomed all the members from the NGO and thanked them for educating the cadets on the topic on behalf of camp commandant and whole staff. In the evening a group song competition was organised to bring out the hidden talent of cadets. — TNS
