International Yoga Day was celebrated with zest by city schools on the guidelines issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). A handbook of instructions titled ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ (CYP) was also issued to schools by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH).

DAV Public School

The session began at 5:45 am, under the guidance of yoga instructor Gurdeep Singh Gill. All participants came dressed in sports attire. Principal Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu highlighted the importance of yoga and exhorted the participants to include yoga in their day-to-day life.

BVM, Udham Singh Nagar

Students of the school came dressed in white attire. School Principal Bandana Sethi, school staff and students participated in ‘Samuhik Yoga Session’. Various yoga ‘asanas’ were performed. After a session of one hour, everybody pledged to make yoga an inseparable part of their life.

During the course of yoga, the instructor narrated the usefulness of various ‘asanas’. The principal, teachers, subordinate staff, students and parents participated with devotion. Principal Upasna Modgil urged that by promoting the idea, we can materialise the dream of a healthy world.

Green Land Convent

The day started with a practice session of yoga. A PowerPoint presentation, which demonstrating various ‘asanas’ and the importance of yoga in life, was shown. All participants were introduced to yogasanas, pranayama, meditation, dhyana, kapalbhati, bhadrasana, etc. Principal Jyoti Pujara inspired her students and teachers to develop a habit of practising yoga daily.

Police DAV

The school organised a fitness camp with activities, such as yoga, aerobics, and track events. The camp culminated on Thursday with a yoga session, in which students, parents and teachers performed several ‘asanas’ and meditation. Principal Anu Verma oriented the staff and students about the benefits of practising yoga in daily life.

SDP School

Hazuri Road: Around hundred students participated and learnt various yoga ‘asanas’ from experts Sunny Kumar and Deepak Kumar of Yogsadhan Ashram.

Green Land, Jalandhar bypass

All students of senior wing performed various ‘asanas’. Principal Baldeep Pandher encouraged the students to practise yoga regularly for a stress-free life and strong immunity.
