Ludhiana, September 23
Death of Sandeep Singh, 30, whose body was found in his car in the Dugri area under mysterious circumstances about a week ago, has turned out to be a case of drug overdose.
He was found in an unconscious state in his car at GK Estate in the Urban Estate area on September 17. When the police reached the spot, the boy was already dead. He was missing since September 16 evening when he left the house on his Zen Estilo car. His body was recovered from the back seat of the car and blood was oozing out of his nose.
Earlier, the police had suspected it to be a case of natural death but on a statement of the deceased’s mother, they registered a murder case against unknown persons.
Those nabbed in the case were identified as Bittu (25), a resident of Model Town; Umesh Paswan, alias Gajni (24), a resident of Jawaddi Kalan; and Ranjit Kumar, alias Lallu (25), a resident of Vishal Nagar, Pakhowal road.
Additional DCP Sandeep Garg said during investigation, the police found the role of three close mates of the deceased, who used to do drugs together. On September 16, the deceased, along with the three suspects, who are vegetable vendors, had injected intoxicant injections into each other. The trio deliberately injected excessive dose of intoxicant injection into Sandeep’s body and he fell unconscious. The trio fled the spot in panic. Since the suspects had injected excessive dose of intoxicant liquid into Sandeep’s body, it became a case of culpable homicide, not a murder, said Garg.
The police have now converted Section 302 of the IPC into Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) in the case.
