Youth was shot at outside his house at Satjot Nagar on Tuesday. Panic had spread in the area after the incident. The conspiracy behind the attack was reportedly hatched from the jail.

The injured Varun Kumar 25 sustained bullet injury on his leg and was undergoing treatment at private hospital. He was said to be out of danger.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ramandeep Singh Bhullar reached the spot and started the probe.

“Two youth knocked at the door of the house of Varun, and the moment Varun opened the door, said youth inquired about the name and the moment, victim told the youth that he was Varun, they fired at him. It seemed that assailants had old enmity with the victim, we are thoroughly investigating the case”ACP Bhullar added.

Kin of the injured, Manjit Kaur said that two youth came to their house and the moment went to inquire about them, they shot at Varun. Varun sustained bullet injury on his leg.”Nearby people immediately gathered and helped us in rushing the victim to hospital. Locality people also tried to chase the assailants but in vain”

Meanwhile police identified the assailant and registered case against him. As per the police, the accused who fired at Varun was identified as Mandeep Singh Vicky resident of Gill village while one of his accomplices was yet to be identified.

Attack planned in jail

The conspiracy of attack was reportedly hatched from the central jail Ludhiana. As per the SHO Sadar police station, Sukhdev Singh, Varun is a kin of gangster Goru Bacha. One of the kin of Goru Bacha, Arjun is lodged in Ludhiana jail. Arjun had heated arguments with Tony Tetua, a rival of Goru Bacha, in the jail. Tony had threatened Arjun that he would teach him a lesson and would show his might by orchestrating an attack on his (Arjun) kin residing in Ludhiana. The police said the attack was reportedly the outcome of the scuffle between Goru Bacha’s kin and his rival gang member in jail and police were investigating the matter.
