Here is what Paulo Coelho says about love stories that they all are the same. After watching Punjabi film 

Sargi, we bet that you’d definitely end up on the same page as Paulo Coelho! 

 Directed by the undisputed actress of the Punjabi film industry Neeru Bajwa, Sargi stars Jassie Gill, Babbal Rai, Rubina Bajwa, BN Sharma and Karamjit Anmol in the lead role. The films story is written by Jagdeep Sidhu, and it has nothing new to offer. Sargi is a regular and predictable love story, meeting quite an expected end. The dialogues of the film are pretty flat at some places. 

Coming to the debutant actress-turned-director, Neeru Bajwa, as a director Neeru Bajwa has executed the film well, but it sure has its share of downs, up and many downs. 

Sargi begins on a racy speed with the middle portion stretched completely out of proportion. While the story accelerates towards the end, it takes one final dip yet again, and this takes away the entire excitement from the climax. The film moves on a predictable slow graph. 

 In Punjabi films, music plays an important part in providing the much- needed crutches whenever required. But, in the case the music of the film is neither foot-tapping, nor exceptionally romantic and the fact that it comes from three well-known music directors of the industry Jassi Katyal, B Praak and Gurmeet Singh it’s a shocking discovery. 

 With a slow-paced, predictable story and below average music, the entire onus falls on the actors of the film. Taking the lead in this segment is Punjabi singer-actor Jassie Gill. Jassie, it can be said has justified his role as a lover who has a problem in expressing his love. Same holds true for Babbal Rai. This Punjabi singer-actor too has played his part well. Neeru Bajwa’s sister, Rubina stars as the lead actress of the film playing Sargi. The pretty girl reminds us of her equally pretty actress, Neeru Bajwa. As a debutant Rubina has acted well, however, when it comes to dialogue delivery and expressions, Rubina could take lessons from her sister, who can perk up the screen with her expressions alone. Come to think of it, Sargi is a youngish love story, but the main characters lack spark of a young generation. Each one of the characters in the film is in need of glucose, except for actor- comedian Karamjit Anmol, the only actor who brought a smile and much-needed respite. It is being noticed repeatedly that actor BN Sharma needs to get over the stereotypical roles that he plays in all films. The actor needs to remind the director of his potential, and himself too. 

In the end, since you know by now that all love stories are the same, you’d watch it once for love’s sake!
