Srinagar, January 16
Kashmiri teen Zaira Wasim, who shot to fame for her role in Aamir Khan superhit “Dangal”, offered a public apology today, saying many people had been “offended” by her recent actions or by the people she recently met — a reference to her meeting with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
The 16-year-old actress first posted an apology on Facebook, saying she wanted to “apologise to all those” whom she had “unintentionally hurt” but later deleted it. Another post asked everyone not to blow the issue out of proportion but it was deleted too.

“I understand their sentiments, especially considering what’s happened over the past six months,” said Zaira, who played the role of young Geeta Phogat. Zaira’s apology came two days after she met the CM, for which she was severely criticised online. “She was trolled and became very emotional,” sources said.
She also objected to being projected as a “role model for Kashmiri youth”. “I’m not proud of what I’m doing and there are real role models out there,” the teen said. — TNS
