10 labourers killed, 22 injured as truck overturns in Maharashtra

SANGLI: A truck ferrying labourers overturned in the district’s Manerajuri village on Saturday, killing 10 of them and injuring 22 others, the police said.

A truck ferrying labourers overturned in the district’s Manerajuri village on Saturday, killing 10 of them and injuring 22 others, the police said.

The truck, which was also carrying tiles, was coming from Vijapur in Karnataka. It flipped over at a sharp turn amid low visibility near Tasgaon town in this western Maharashtra district early this morning, they said.

Ten labourers were killed on the spot and 22 others injured in the incident, the police said.

While 11 of the injured were being treated at the government hospital in Miraj, the rest were undergoing treatment at a rural hospital in Tasgaon, they said.

According to the police, six of the deceased have been identified so far. PTI
