29 students fall ill after mid-day meal

MUMBAI:At least 28 students of the Balvikas Vidya Mandir in Mumbai’s suburb of Jogeshwari fell ill after consuming the mid-day meal provided on the school’s premises, the police said.

At least 28 students of the Balvikas Vidya Mandir in Mumbai’s suburb of Jogeshwari fell ill after consuming the mid-day meal provided on the school’s premises, the police said.

The incident occurred shortly after noon when some of the students who had consumed khichdi, served as the meal today, began vomiting and complained of nausea. “Five students were vomiting while other complained of nausea and weakness,” a police spokesman said. Those taken ill, all students of Classes 7 to 10, were rushed to the Konkan Hospital nearby. All of them are out of danger and will be discharged soon, sources said. — TNS
