Some 40 trains running on the Delhi-Moradabad route have been diverted following a train derailment in Hapur on Sunday night, while nine passenger trains and four mail express trains were cancelled, an official said.

The Northern Railway said on Monday that two of the coaches of the 14206 Delhi-Faizabad Padmavat Express which derailed on Sunday night have been righted and the track is expected to be repaired by 4 pm.

"Two coaches of the train have been re-railed while remaining six have been kept off the track. We will pick them later. The track repair work is likely to be completed by 4 p.m. The General Manager of Northern Railways is himself at the site to monitor the repair work," CPIO (Central Public Information Officer) of Northern Railways Neeraj Sharma said.

He added that around 40 trains running on the route were diverted while nine passenger trains and four mail express trains were cancelled.

"The diverted trains are running via Delhi to Meerut/Aligarh route," Sharma said.

He said there were no serious casualties due to the accident.

"Two passengers sustained minor injuries," he added.
