5 of UP killed in road mishap in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Five pilgrims from Uttar Pradsh were killed and three got injured when a car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck on Bari highway in Dholpur in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Five pilgrims from Uttar Pradsh were killed and three got injured when a car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck on Bari highway in Dholpur in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The victims belonged to Ferozabad in UP. They were on a pilgrimage to Kaila Devi temple in Karauli district, SHO Sadar Thana of Dholpur Chandra Prakash said.

The injured were rushed to Agra, he said.

The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Yadav, Sumit Sharma, Prashant Yadav, Sidharth, and Anuj Pratap, all in the age group of 20-25 years. 

The driver fled from the spot leaving the truck behing which was later seized.

In another incident, three pedestrians were killed and seven others injured after they were run over by a truck in Jaipur’s Chomu area this morning.

The accident happened when the victims were going to attend morning prayers at a local temple. The injured have been hospitalised, police said. — With PTI inputs
