5 to be booked for Gorakhpur hospital deaths

Lucknow, August 22

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath today ordered FIRs against five  persons responsible for the deaths of 30 children at  BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, reportedly owing to disruption of oxygen supply.

The action comes after a probe committee submitted its report to the CM. 

Lucknow SSP Deepak Kumar said the FIRs would be filed at the Hazratganj police station for culpable homicide not amounting to murder  and the Prevention of Corruption Act against former principal RK Misra, his wife Dr Purnima Shukla, head of the anaesthesia department Satish Kumar, former nodal officer of the encephalitis ward Dr Kafeel and a representative of oxygen supplier Pushpa Sales Private Limited. — TNS
