68-year-old woman held for gold smuggling at Delhi airport

NEW DELHI: A 68-year-old Indian woman was arrested by the Customs at the Delhi airport for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country Rs 21 lakh worth of gold, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

A 68-year-old Indian woman was arrested by the Customs at the Delhi airport for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country Rs 21 lakh worth of gold, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

The accused was intercepted after her arrival from Dubai on Tuesday.

During her baggage search, eight gold kadas (bangles) and two gold chains, weighing 710 grams, were seized, the statement issued by the Customs said.

The passenger was arrested and the gold, valued at Rs 21.53 lakh seized, it said. PTI
