New Delhi, June 25

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dinesh Mohaniya, who had been booked for misbehaving with a woman, has now once again made it to the headlines, this time for slapping a 60-year-old senior citizen.

The incident took place in the Tughlakabad locality of the city where Mohaniya had gone for a visit on Friday.

According to the victim, the incident took place when some people, including Mohaniya, came to his area for a survey. It is reported that the Sangam Vihar MLA slapped the senior citizen as he had failed to recognise the former.

“Seeing the crowd, I went there. There Dinesh Mohaniya slapped me after the people surrounded me. And to add to that, one of the guys even twisted my hand,” he told ANI.

A case has been registered against Mohaniya under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 34 (act done by several persons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Govindpuri police station.

Earlier, an FIR was lodged against Mohaniya, who is also the vice-chairman of Delhi Jal Board, after locals of Sangam Vihar alleged that the MLA and his supporters roughed them up and misbehaved with women in his office when they went to complain about irregular water supply.

A case was registered under Section 506 (criminal intimidation), Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code at the Neb Sarai police station.

However, the MLA had rubbished the allegations, saying it was an attempt to defame his reputation as the water mafia is frustrated because of the Delhi Government’s crackdown. ANI
