Muzaffarnagar, June 17
As the Uttar Pradesh government’s love for saffron colour is no secret, a toll plaza on the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway here is the latest to be painted in the colour.
From Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office to various other spots, including the Secretariat building, dividers and statues, the colour has become a defining feature of the state.
Earlier this year, Gomti Nagar police station, Qaiser Bagh police station, Haj committee office’s boundary walls in Lucknow were coated saffron too.
The saffron colour on the Haj committee office’s boundary walls had triggered quite a controversy in January. The saffronisation has also not gone down well with Opposition parties, which have termed it as a political ploy by the BJP-led state government.
In October last year, 50 saffron-coloured buses of the UP State Road Transport Corporation were launched under ‘Sankalp Seva’ scheme in rural areas. — Agencies
