It also suggested that fitness of private vehicles should be tested every five years instead of after 15 years. “Fitness testing will prove whether the vehicle has reached its end of life or not. This is also the practice in European countries and North America,” the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in response to a PIL by activist MC Mehta seeking steps to check pollution.
