Delhi: BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said all five states that went to the polls recently had accepted the BJP.

As the results started trickling in, Shah told media here that the party’s foundations had strengthened from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from East to West. The results are an affirmation of the development work undertaken by the Narendra Modi government, he added.

People had given a suitable reply to those who stalked Parliament and indulged in negative politics; it is a step towards the goal of a Congress-mukt Bharat, Shah said.

In Kerala, the vote bank of the party, along with that of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena, had increased to 15 per cent, a three time increase, he said, adding that the increase in vote share in the UP bypolls is heartening. Wins in Gujarat and Jharkhand proved that the BJP is on the right path, Shah said.

He assured the people of Assam that the party would provide them a good government. Shah said they had congratulated J Jayalalithaa and Mamata Banerjee.

“We are in the right direction. It is a staunch foundation for the 2019 elections and we will fight the 2019 elections on the basis of our performance,” he said. “All those willing to come with us for the development of the country are welcome,” he added.

The BJP parliamentary board will meet later in the evening.
