Azad lied to House: Swamy

NEW DELHI: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy submitted a breach of privilege notice in the Rajya Sabha against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for “lying” that the UPA government had blacklisted helicopter maker AgustaWestland and its Italian parent Finmeccanica.

New Delhi, April 29

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy submitted a breach of privilege notice in the Rajya Sabha against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for “lying” that the UPA government had blacklisted helicopter maker AgustaWestland and its Italian parent Finmeccanica.

Swamy said in a tweet the notice pertained to the breach of privilege committed by Azad by “wilfully telling a lie to RS on AgustaWestland blacklisting”. Azad is the Leader of Opposition in the RS.

The BJP leader raised the issue soon after the House met and said he had submitted a privilege notice. “The notice is under Rule 187 for the breach of privilege against Ghulam Nabi Azad,” he said. Swamy had said before entering Parliament that Azad “lied” about blacklisting. — IANS

Shah targets Sonia again

AHMEDABAD: BJP chief Amit Shah has asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to “come clean” on the chopper deal. Shah, who was in Ahmedabad to attend a meeting of the party’s Gujarat core committee today, alleged tender conditions were mysteriously changed by the then government.

“Only original equipment manufacturers were allowed to file the tender. Despite not being an original equipment manufacturer, AgustaWestland bidded for the deal. Now, my question to Sonia Gandhi is — on whose behest this tampering with original conditions was done,” he asked. — OC
