Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday kicked off one-year celebrations of the NDA government by addressing a mega rally at Nagla Chandrabhan, the ancestral village of BJP ideologue Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, also known as Deendayal Dham.

Addressing the rally, the Prime Minister said the BJP could have initiated the one-year programme from anywhere in the country. However, it chose the birth place of Pandit Upadhyaya who showed the path of antodya

He said Deendayal Upadhyaya, Mahatma Gandhi and Ram Manohar Lohia gave India its political philosophy and direction.

Hitting out at the Congress, Modi said the people of the country have left behind bad days. Today corruption has stopped completely and the good days are here. He warned that bad days have come for those who looted the country.  “I am the pradhan sevak, and won't let anyone loot this country”.

Situation in the country would have worsened had the previous dispensation continued for one more year, said Modi.

“Rajiv Gandhi had said 1 rupee that leaves Delhi becomes 15 paise in villages, we ensured that the poor get the entire sum, there are no middlemen, said Modi while listing the achievements of his government.

“We have decided to improve the health of the soil of the country through better irrigation facilities, interlinking of rivers and increasing power generation. We have also decided to provide good seeds at the right time. The government will also operationalise fertliser plans to ensure that farmers get urea in time.”

Accusing the previous Congress governments of siphoning money belonging to poor workers of the country by not disbursing Rs 27,000 cr to their rightful owners, the Prime Minister said, “Rs 27,000 crore belonging to poor workers was lying in the government treasury. We decided to provide a unique identity card to poor workers, so that the money deducted from them is given to them.”
