A key accused in the toppers scandal and the Arts topper of the Bihar intermediate examination was apprehended today as she stepped out after a re-test at the office of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) here.
The Arts topper is being quizzed by a special investigation team (SIT). She will be produced in a local court on Sunday. Before today, she had failed to appear in the re-test twice — on June 3 and 17. She reportedly informed the board that she was not well.
Meanwhile, the SIT today arrested Vikas Chandra, personal assistant of former BSEB chief Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh. “We arrested Vikas today. Chandra confessed he was involved in the merit muddle along with Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, his wife Usha Sinha and Amit Kumar,” said Patna SSP Manu Maharaj.
In the scam, 17 persons have been arrested so far.
