BJP MLA Sanjiv Singh on Tuesday surrendered before the police in a murder case of former Dhanbad mayor and Congress leader Neeraj Singh.
He surrendered at Saraidhela police station in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand even as the local court has ordered an arrest warrant against him.
Neeraj Singh, along with three aides, was shot dead on March 21 in Dhanbad.
Neeraj’s younger brother Abhishek Singh had registered a case of murder against his cousin and Jhariya BJP MLA Sanjiv Singh.
Sanjiv had declared himself to be innocent saying he was being implicated in the case. Opposition has continuously been demanding a CBI probe in the case.
Special investigation team (SIT) led by Dhanbad senior superintendent of police Manoj Ratan Chaute had already quizzed the Jhariya legislator earlier.
SIT has arrested eight persons in connection with the murder so far.
“A polygraph test would be performed on Sanjiv Singh,” DIG Saket Kumar Singh said.
