BJP to wait and watch Rajini’s next move

NEW DELHI: Amid speculations about Rajinikanth taking a plunge into the political cesspool — floating his own political party presumably with blessings of the BJP, which is looking for an anchor in the south — saffron leaders claim they are as “puzzled” about the ongoing Tamil Nadu saga featuring the superstar as others following it.

Amid speculations about Rajinikanth taking a plunge into the political cesspool — floating his own political party presumably with blessings of the BJP, which is looking for an anchor in the south — saffron leaders claim they are as “puzzled” about the ongoing Tamil Nadu saga featuring the superstar as others following it.

Senior BJP leaders here claim they are perplexed by Rajinikanth’s moves “who seems to be in two minds whether to take the plunge or not”. According to reports, he will soon announce a new political outfit for “incorrupt, clean” people.

In any case, BJP leaders claim to be “not interested in superstars”. “It is not the style of party chief Amit Shah. We have enough in-house talent like L Ganesan and state chief Tamilisai Soundararajan,” says a senior BJP leader.

Saffron leaders also say if local political support is what it was looking for in Tamil Nadu, the party already has it in the form of different factions of the state major AIADMK. After all, Chief Minister K Palaniswami, former CM O Panneerselvam and TV Dinakaran are all supporting NDA’s presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.

Meanwhile, on BJP leader Subramanian Swamy claims that Rajinikanth has committed financial fraud and he will “expose” the superstar if he enters politics, BJP leaders say they have “no idea” about what he is talking about.
