BNP leader in judicial custody

A Shillong court on Wednesday remanded Salahuddin Ahmed, former Bangladesh minister and a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader, in 14-day judicial custody. He was arrested on May 11 for entering the country without valid documents. TNS

Drugs worth Rs 46 cr seized

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 218.43 kg Mephedrone Hydrochloride (a psychotropic substance), worth Rs 30.58 crore in the international market, from a factory of Rishi Minechem in Mount Abu and 15.4 kg Methamphetamine, worth Rs 15.4 crore, from a factory of Lucent Pharma in Gandhinagar. Five persons, including Rishi Minechem director, have been arrested. TNS

Guv seeks nominees' credentials 

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik has returned the list of nine persons, recommended by the state government for the state legislative council under the nominated category, and sought details of their qualifications. SP spokesperson Rajendra Chadhury said his party's government respected the authority of Raj Bhawan and would seek a solution within the legal framework. TNS
