Bombs found ahead of PM’s Manipur visit

IMPHAL: The police today recovered a hand grenade and a bomb from 2 districts of Manipur, a day ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the northeastern state to address a poll rally.

Imphal, February 24

The police today recovered a hand grenade and a bomb from 2 districts of Manipur, a day ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the northeastern state to address a poll rally.

The recovery comes even as an apex body of six rebel groups in Manipur has given a “shutdown” call in the state tomorrow to protest against Modi’s visit, saying it was aimed at “hoodwinking the people of Manipur”.

The PM will address a rally at the Langjing Achouba ground in Imphal West tomorrow. The police have intensified frisking all over the state capital to ensure that there was no loophole. — PTI
