The Congress on Wednesday announced a nationwide observation of May 26, the fourth anniversary of the BJP Government, as the “Betrayal Day”, with party chief Rahul Gandhi also expected to participate.

Releasing its protest poster to mark the day, Congress General Secretary in-charge of organisation Ashok Gehlot today advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “stop lying about issues.”

“My advice to the PM is he should stop lying. Instead of distorting history, he should try and make some,” said Gehlot.
Accompanied by Congress media head Randeep Surjewala, Gehlot also said the situation in the country would force every Opposition party to join hands to defeat the BJP in future elections and in 2019.

“Everyone is angry and full of angst against this government. Farmers are unhappy, youth are unhappy, common man is suffering as oil and diesel prices soar. People will force the Opposition to come together and oust the BJP,” said Gehlot, exuding confidence of Opposition unity against the BJP post-Karnataka developments.

The Congress leader said party workers and leaders at state Capitals and districts will hold protests on May 26 to expose the “hollowness of the BJP Government “ and call their bluff.

Gehlot also mocked PM Modi for his penchant for lectures and travel. “ PM Modi must have spent the least time in his office among all Indian PMs. He has been constantly travelling abroad,” Gehlot said.

Surjewala added that the PM had been travelling abroad every 27th day.
