Dense fog hits flight operations at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: Heavy fog at the city airport affected air traffic movement on Tuesday, with two international flights being diverted to nearby Bengaluru, officials said.

Heavy fog at the city airport affected air traffic movement on Tuesday, with two international flights being diverted to nearby Bengaluru, officials said.

The fog also resulted in delayed departure and arrival of seven flights on Tuesday morning, airport officials added.

Earlier, two international services bound to Chennai, one each from Mauritius and Riyadh, were diverted to Bengaluru following dense fog.

However, the carriers later arrived here, they added.

Further, flights to and fro different destinations, including Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kochi, suffered delays ranging up to 20 minutes, officials added. PTI
