The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) has initiated a digital degree project to control the fake degree racket.
Under the project, enrollment would be made with the Aadhaar card number of the student so that the record of degree issued can be kept by the UGC, HRD and other authorities.
The information was shared by the HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar while meeting a delegation of All India Federation of Self-Financing Colleges Association led by its chief RS Munirathinam and president Dr Anshu Kataria on Tuesday at Delhi.
The association informed the minister the problems being faced by small self-financing colleges.
Dr Anshu Kataria sought a level playing-field for all type of Institutions, including private universities, deemed universities and self-financed colleges.
On the issue of fake degree racket, Javadekar assured the delegation that the government has already implemented digital degree project.
Javadekar said with the implementation of digital degree project the full record of the curriculum, including nomenclature of the course, duration, marks, details of the pupil etc would be made accessible.
