NEW DELHI: Banks have been instructed to allow foreign diplomats withdraw money on priority, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.

Banks have been instructed to allow foreign diplomats withdraw money on priority, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.

“Foreign Secretary had a constructive meeting with Dean of Diplomatic Corps. We hope missions bear with temporary inconvenience,” the ministry’s spokesperson, Vikas Swarup, said on Thursday.

The development a few days after both Russian and Pakistan’s missions complained diplomats were unable to withdraw money after the central government announced that the old banknotes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 would no longer be valid. — Agencies
